Are food servings on nutrion labels and servings of what we should eat each day mean the same?
We’re told to eat a certain number of different foods each day. And then there is the word servings on nutrition labels. Is it the same meaning?
No. The label on the can/package is from the company that produced the product. Notice how some of the serving sizes are so tiny. There is a reason for that.

No! The manufacturer picks a serving size that looks good.
Avoid all those processed ‘foods’ & shop on the periphery.
Get fresh whole foods, with lots of coloured fruits & veggies.
Above all, avoid sugar, flour, & starch; aka ‘white death’.

They are certainly not the same. Food servings on food labels are often used by food manufacturers/suppliers to manipulate the amount of undesirable contents such as hydrogenated fats, trans fat, sugar, etc to be displayed on the packaging. For instance, when a food claims "zero trans fat", it doesn’t mean there is absolutely no trans fat in it. Any food containing 0.5g or less of trans fat per serving is allowed to claim zero trans fat on the packaging. Hence, food servings on labels can be ridiculously small e.g 2 biscuits!
